HP Smart app can't find your printer

HP Smart discovery fails when the printer is not in setup mode or the phone is on the wrong network.

   Restore network setup mode

   On most HP printers hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons (or Information) for 5 seconds until the wireless light blinks.

   Connect your phone to 2.4 GHz

   HP Smart passes credentials from the phone's network. It must be on 2.4 GHz for most HP models.

   Enable Bluetooth and location

   HP Smart uses Bluetooth to find nearby printers. Both must be on, with location permission granted.

   Skip VPN and mobile data

   A VPN on the phone blocks local discovery. Turn it off during setup.

5. 5

   Add by IP as a fallback

   Print the network report from the printer panel and add the printer by its IP address instead.
