Scanner not detected on a multifunction printer

Printing works but scanning fails? The scan driver and firewall are separate from the print driver.

   Install the full software package

   The basic driver prints but does not scan. Install the manufacturer's full feature package.

   Check the firewall

   Network scanning uses different ports. Allow the scan utility through the firewall or test with it temporarily off.

   Restart the WIA service

   On Windows, restart the Windows Image Acquisition service in services.msc.

   Use the brand's scan utility

   Brother iPrint&Scan, Canon IJ Scan Utility, HP Scan and Epson Scan 2 bypass many Windows scan issues.

   Test with a USB cable

   If scanning works over USB but not network, the issue is the network path, not the scanner hardware.
